TIE DYE™ pizza and warm bread pudding at Rubirosa NYC steal the spotlight, while the pasta sits forgotten—delicious highs and forgettable lows in one shot.

Rubirosa: Pizza > Pasta, and Four Stars—No Longer Five

📍 235 Mulberry Street, Manhattan 🍕
🕰️ Open Daily: 11 AM – 11 PM

TIE DYE™ pizza and warm bread pudding steal the show, while the pasta sits forgotten—delicious highs and forgettable lows in one stylish shot.

🍕 The TIE DYE™ Pizza—Not Quite Heaven on Earth, But Pretty Darn Close

Rubirosa isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a shrine for pizza disciples. Born of pizza royalty (AJ Pappalardo, son of Joe & Pat’s founder), this Nolita hotspot has been flipping pies since 2009.

And the pizza? Mama mia meets modern masterpiece.

📝 What We Ordered

Dish Verdict Notes
🔥 TIE DYE™ Pizza
(vodka/tomato/pesto/mozzarella)
Small $33 — up $5 in just a few months! 💸
✅ Hall of Fame Light, crisp, perfectly balanced. A pizza ballet on your tongue. 💃🍕
🍯 Honey Pie
(soppressata/spiced honey/fontina)
Small $33 — because inflation comes with extra mozzarella. 🧀💸
🤷♂️ Good, but not great Solid first time, but underwhelming on round two. Bring the heat, honey! 🍯🔥
🍕 The Classic Pie
(Tomato, Mozzarella, Original Recipe)
Small $29
✅ Solid OG A nod to their Staten Island roots. A safe bet for any pizza purist. 🛡️
❌ Bucatini alla Nereno
$32
💀 Pasta Crime Too salty, somehow tasteless. Not special. Not again. Not ever.
✅ Spaghetti alla Chitarra
(Tomato/basil/parmigiano)
😋 Only Pasta Worth It The sauce saves it. The meatballs? Let’s just say… not the MVPs. ⚽
🥪 Meatball Parm Hero 😐 Decent But again… those meatballs need therapy.
🍮 Tiramisu & Bread Pudding 💘 Divine Bread pudding > tiramisu. Fight us. 🥊🍞

🛑 Service? Oof.

Third visit, third time’s not the charm. Our reservation at Rubirosa NYC was for 11:45 AM. We arrived early, seated early.
But at 11:40 AM—yes, before we even hit the halfway mark:

“Just so you know, your table is reserved again at 1:00 PM.”

🤨 Wait, what?
Yes, we get it, you're busy. But telling us twice about the next booking before the food even arrives? Kills the vibe faster than bad gnocchi.

💸 Not Exactly Budget Pizza

Total incl. 3 small pies, 1 bad pasta, 1 desert (shared), and 1 latte: $174.72. It’s rather pricey. The first two visits? Totally worth it. But after a salty pasta and salty service… well, let’s just say four stars is generous.

For a cheaper yet wonderful alternative, check out Modern Apizza in New Haven, CT.

🍝 What To Try Next Time (If We’re Still Curious)

  • 🍚 Mini Rice Balls – Mascarpone, prosciutto, fontina

  • 🥓 Carbonara – Speck, egg yolk, scallions

🍰 Dessert Royalty

The bread pudding will ruin all future desserts for you.
Warm. Gooey. Fragrant. Melt-in-your-mouth bliss.
💯 Do not share. You’ll regret it.

🪑 The Rubirosa Setup

Three seating options:
1️⃣ High-top tables
2️⃣ Cozy bar seats
3️⃣ Regular dining room
✅ Good for dates, friends, family—if the timing gods are in your favor.

🥂 Pro Tips:

  • ✅ Use Resy—this place books out fast.

  • ⏳ Don’t linger—apparently they’ll remind you you’re on the clock.

  • 📸 Tie Dye™ Pizza = Insta bait. (You're welcome.)

🏆 Grand Prize Winners

The TIE DYE™ Pizza and Bread Pudding.
Forget the pasta (okay, maybe keep the Spaghetti alla Chitarra—but skip the meatballs). Stick to what Rubirosa really nails: crispy, bold pizza and dessert glory. 🍕🍮

🔚 Final Slice:

We’ll return—but not right away. The NYC pizza scene is vast and legendary. Rubirosa's got the goods, but it’s no longer our GOAT.

💬 Been there? Got a better slice? Tell us or fight us (with bread pudding).

📛 Disclaimer:
